Promina games
Today a reminder of old customs, once a real test of strength and skills. The first Promina games were held in 1949 and since then they have been the commanding adet of all Promina, friends of Promina and folk customs. The Games are a festival of folk customs and games with the main goal of passing the customs on to younger generations, as well as breaking away from the oblivion the disciplines by which strength and dexterity were measured and the reputation of the strongest, fastest and the most skillful contestant was built.
The Games are traditionally held on May 1 at the Oklaj Hippodrome. The competition includes a road bicycle racing, junior, senior and veteran running races, and the most attractive – horse and donkey races as well as a rock shoulder-throwing competition. Part of the games is being held on the sports field called Žagra in Oklaj where a mini-soccer tournament and a tug-of-war competition take place. The final disciplines are morra and bouled. Beans are traditionally served to all visitors and competitors, and the entire event ends with a cultural, artistic, entertainment event in Oklaj square.
